Check out this nightmare

House Ways & Means Committee defeated an amendment aimed at preventing illegals from getting proposed Obamacare. Read Michelle Malkin's take on it here. I shouldn't read things like this. Knew it would get worse during this administration, but...

As a border integrity issue, your position is correct. But as a practical, public health matter, it isn't.

The reality is that no matter how morally responsible our laws are, or what the consequences are, people will come here illegally. What we really don't want is them not getting care and treatment if they arrive with whatever is the prevalent communicable disease in the Godforsaken stinkhole of a country they came from. Consider the number of Chinese and other Asians here illegally. How many of them arrived with bird flu? If one of them develops symptoms do you really want them avoiding care? That's my nightmare.

No matter how quickly or ruthlessly you deport an illegal immigrant, they can still spread disease in what little time they spend here. So better to assure that the barriers to treatment are as low as possible. You can still keep the barriers to entry as high as you'd like.
